Innovations “Made In Germany” at the WIND EXPO 2022 in Tokyo

March 29, 2022

From March 16th to 18th, 2022, the German Offshore Wind Initiative GOI – represented by Japan representative Sayuri Watanabe – was present with its booth at the WIND EXPO 2022 in Tokyo.

The aim was to present innovations and expertise across the entire German offshore wind value chain to the Japanese market. A total of fourteen German companies had provided print and video material in advance. This made it possible, despite existing travel restrictions, to show concentrated offshore wind innovation “Made in Germany” on site. This was deepened by an additional seminar together with the companies TÜV Süd and SanCo. Here the guests had the opportunity to engage in direct exchange with the speakers and to ask questions live on site.

The high number of visitors at the booth and many interested follow-up discussions showed the great success of participation in the Wind Expo 2022. In summary, it was a great opportunity for both Sayuri Watanabe as the country representative in Japan and the entire German Offshore Wind Initiative GOI to introduce themselves to the industry as a contact person or as a project funded by the German government and to generate visibility.

The next trade fair appearance of the German Offshore Wind Initiative GOI in Japan is planned for the second WIND EXPO in August/September. It will be held between August 31st and September 2nd (3 days) at Makuhari Messe (Chiba Prefecture, about 30 km from central Tokyo). Here, too, there will be another opportunity for German companies to participate at the exhibition stand. The query will be made promptly.

About the fair

The Wind Expo was held as part of the “World Smart Energy Week 2022” which consisted of nine exhibitions at the same location (Tokyo Big Sight). According to the organizer’s preliminary report, a total of 40,000 visitors attended the fair.
