The project aims to provide targeted support to German offshore companies in developing attractive export opportunities in foreign offshore wind markets and to deliver measurable results. Taking into account and in cooperation with existing instruments (e.g. energy export initiative, energy partnerships, foreign chambers of commerce), concrete measures were implemented in the target countries.

The project began with a thorough export market analysis. A broad online survey provided an overview of export activities, export opportunities and barriers to market entry in the first three target markets of Japan, Taiwan and the USA. In-depth interviews afterwards provided a detailed insight into relevant topics.

At the same time, local representatives were set up in each of the three target markets. The representatives use the information from the export market analysis and offer active, practical support for market entry, specifically helping with networking and winning orders. The representatives are a direct link between local market players and the domestic offshore wind industry.

Attractive specialist events with all relevant stakeholders on site complete the project’s offering. Events with current key topics and targeted networking opportunities are offered in each of the target markets. The representatives also organize the connection to existing formats (e.g. trade fair appearances with shared exhibition stands for effective and efficient presentation options).

A win-win situation: Overall, concrete export orders are generated for the German offshore wind industry, emerging target markets are supported with the transfer of German specialist expertise and a relevant building block is laid for achieving the goals of the Paris Climate Protection Agreement.
